Lombard Odier Hires Veteran To Grow Southern Europe Business

The Geneva-based wealth manager has been hired from rival Julius Baer.

Lombard Odier has named Stephen Kamp as chief operating officer for private clients beginning the role on 6 August, the group said on Monday. As an executive committee member, he will be based in Geneva and report to Frédéric Rochat, co-head of private clients business.

The European private banking veteran has been tapped from Julius Baer, where he was regional deputy for southern Europe and Israel at the Swiss rival.

He began at Dutch bank ABN Amro in the Netherlands in the 1990s, moving with the bank to roles in Germany and Belgium, before becoming manager of its Geneva branch and later head of private banking in Switzerland. In 2004, he moved to HSBC to develop wealth management in the southern European markets and oversaw HSBC's merger with Swiss private bank Guyerzeller. He became COO of private banking in 2011.

Announcing the move, Lombard Odier said that his knowledge of the banking world, networks and ability to carry out strategic projects will support its growth in a priority market.

The group had total client assets of SFr259 billion at 31 December 2018.
