Law Firm Opens Up Shop In Jersey

The firm now provides Jersey legal services in the corporate, finance and investment funds sectors.

Multi-jurisdictional law firm Maples and Calder has opened its newest office in Jersey in response to client demand.

The group now provides Jersey legal services in the corporate, finance and investment funds sectors as well as listing agent services for the listing of securities on The International Stock Exchange in the Channel Islands, it said in a statement.

The office is managed by Jersey advocate Chris Byrne, who has over 20 years' experience in the areas of corporate, finance and listing services.

Byrne is joined by partner Simon Hopwood, an investment funds expert who has almost 20 years' experience specialising in private equity and real estate funds, as well as partner Paul Burton, who is experienced in public and private M&A, corporate/investment structuring, debt financing and capital markets transactions.

These three hires are supported by associates Anna Cochrane and Stephanie Edge, along with other lawyers who are due to join the Jersey team in a few weeks.

Maples and Calder is based in the Cayman Islands. It has offices in the Caribbean and Channel Islands, Dublin and Singapore, and in offshore tax havens such as the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Dubai and Jersey.
