Law Firm Launches Online Tax Navigator For Fund Creators

Data on the local taxes investors pay is important information for asset managers launching funds. A law firm has created an online service to provide that information.

London-headquartered law firm Simmons & Simmons has rolled out an online service to give asset managers who launch funds information at their fingertips about the taxes of investors in 10 jurisdictions.

More than 100 clients have shown interest in the “navigator” offering, after the firm demonstrated it at a forum held in October, the international firm said in a statement.

The following jurisdictions are included in the data: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

The service provides information on tax in a “consistent and standardised format”, Simmons & Simmons said, touching on salient aspects of the domestic taxation of individual investors. The service will be updated quarterly, and is available online 24/7.

“The service has evolved from our work with clients on significant cross-border international tax surveys and in response to our clients’ requests for information that is tailored, straightforward and practical,” said Martin Shah, tax partner and leader of the financial services tax practice in London.
