Investec Appoints Head Of Investment Management
Investec Wealth & Investment has made a number of senior appointments having completed the transfer of the employees and client accounts of Williams de Broë, which it acquired in October last year.
Jonathan Wragg has been named as chief executive of Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) having served as chief executive of Investec Wealth & Investment and Williams de Broë since May 2012. He continues to report to Steve Elliott, global head of the firm’s wealth and investment division.
Tom Street has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of investment management. Street is an executive director of Investec Wealth & Investment and was latterly responsible for several of the northern based offices and the development of the company's intermediary business.
Meanwhile, Mark Stevens has been named head of intermediary sales – a role which has been created to reflect the firm’s growth ambitions for this market. Stevens, who reports to Street, was latterly head of marketing and development at Williams de Broë, focusing on intermediaries in particular.
John Haynes remains as head of research and Chris Hills will continue as chief investment officer, while Jim Wood Smith has been appointed chief investment strategist.
Investec bought Evolution Group, the parent of Williams de Broë, for £233 million ($371 million). Williams de Broë has had several owners during its 150-year history; before it became part of Evolution Group in 2006 it was bought by ING in the 1990s.
Investec Wealth & Investment now has £20 billion of assets under management and a network of 15 offices.
