Indian Asset Manager Gets $50 Million Injection From Warburg Pincus
Au Financiers (India), a Jaipur-based asset management firm, has attracted a $50 million investment from an international private equity firm in support of its growing presence in the Asian region.
The investment is the single largest equity infusion in the company and will increase its net worth by 100 per cent, the firm said in a statement. Au Financiers was established in 1996 and since last year developed a network of around 150 branches across seven states in western and central India.
Existing investor International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank group, also participated in this fund-raising effort to maintain its percentage ownership. IFC has 182 member countries and records total assets of $68.5 billion.
Warburg Pincus keeps an active portofolio of around 125 firms and has some $30 billion in assets under management. The company has so far raised 13 private equity funds which have invested more than $40 billion in 650 firms worldwide.
