Guernsey Financial Services Commission Adds Senior Decision Maker

Guernsey’s financial regulator now has a seven-strong panel determining the outcome of its major enforcement cases.

The Guernsey Financial Services Commission has appointed Kirsty Hood to its panel of senior decision makers.

Hood practices at the Scottish Bar, having been called in 2001. She has a practice in the civil litigation field and has published work in the areas of international private law and court procedure. She also regularly gives lectures on university courses and serves as an advocate member on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service Board.

As a senior decision maker, Hood will be required to sit and hear cases involving serious findings against a licensee and/or individual directors where findings are contested by the licensee. Where a case is proven, she will determine what penalties should be imposed, including the level of fine to be paid, any period of prohibition from practising in the industry and the contents of any public statement to be issued by the Commission.

“Her skills and experience further strengthens our panel and will be invaluable in those cases which she is asked to determine,” said the Commission’s chairman, Cees Schrauwers.
