Goldman Sachs Hires to Strengthen Australian Philanthropy

Goldman Sachs JBWere, the Australian business of the US investment bank, has hired Kelley McLendon from National Australia Bank as a director in its philanthropic services team. Ms McLendon, who will be based in Sydney, will work across all areas of the firm with a focus on their private wealth management and asset management teams. She was previously group manager, corporate community investment at NAB. “Philanthropy is emerging as a topic clients are raising more frequently with their professional advisers as they incorporate charitable giving into their overall wealth management, and we are continuing to invest to grow our ability to service these needs,” said Christopher Thorn, executive director, philanthropic services for GSJBW. GSJBW’s philanthropic services team works with professional advisors to help individuals and families incorporate their current interest in philanthropy into an overall wealth management strategy that integrates their financial planning, estate planning, and intergenerational wealth transfer objectives. The firm also has a charitable endowment fund designed to help investors establish an endowment for charitable organisations that they wish to support. JBWere, an Australian stockbrokerage, merged with the Australian operations of Goldman Sachs in 2003.
