Gartmore Names New Global Equities Research Head

Gartmore, the London-headquartered asset manager, has named Nick Anderson as its new head of research for global equities.

Upon assuming his new role next month, Anderson will work alongside the previous incumbent Simon Melluish, who has become an investment director for the Gartmore equities team on a full time basis. Anderson will report to Neil Rogan, head of global equities at the firm.

Anderson’s prior career includes a seven-year tenure heading up equity research at Insight Investments, along with a period at Schroders Investment Management.

“The growth of the team’s client list has meant the roles of head of research and investment director have become two full time jobs. With both Nick and Simon we will be able to focus on delivering even better research, performance and client service,” Rogan said in a statement.

“He [Anderson] brings a track record of alpha generation from both long and short ideas and his experience will greatly complement the skills and resources of the existing team.”

In other recent developments, last month came news that Guillaume Rambourg, a senior investment analyst on Gartmore’s European large cap team, was leaving the firm to focus on an ongoing investigation by the Financial Services Authority, the UK regulator.

Rambourg's departure follows his reinstatement by Gartmore after he was suspended over a possible breach of internal policy. The European large cap team will continue to be led by Roger Guy and supported by Darrell O'Dea, Leopold Arminjon and Tomas Pinto, the firm said.
