Envestnet boosts offering with fixed-income access

SMA-platform provider to offer advisors bond products and services from FIS. Investment-platform provider Envestnet Asset Management has teamed up with investment-strategy firm Fixed Income Securities (FIS) to launch a hybrid product that creates and manages customized fixed-income portfolios for financial advisors.

"This product plays on the strengths of both Envestnet and FIS, opening the door to a competitive edge for advisors," says Envestnet's president Bill Crager. "The ability to generate customized fixed-income portfolios for their clients is a significant advantage that can translate into better solutions and more satisfied clients."

Best in class

Scott Colyer, president of Monument, Colo.-based FIS, calls the tie-in with Envestnet "a major step forward" that brings "fixed income portfolio management to the next level and give our existing FIS advisor clients the ability to incorporate an even higher magnitude of service."

Envestnet will integrate FIS' products and services into its investment platform to give the 10,000 or so advisors who use its platform access to custom-built bond portfolios designed to help mitigate risk.

"The demonstrated expertise of FIS combined with its institutional inventory of high-quality bonds is a powerful formula," says Crager. "We believe this combination will help the independent advisor deliver best-in-class solutions to their clients."

Chicago-based Envestnet has around $38-billion in assets under management and administration across more than 400,000 investor accounts. -FWR
