EXCLUSIVE: Julius Baer Hires Ex-Barclays W&IM Managing Director
A Barclays Wealth & Investment Management veteran has joined the Swiss private bank, this publication can exclusively report.
Julian Cooper, a former managing director at Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, has joined Julius Baer International as senior client relationship manager, a spokesperson for the bank told this publication.
Cooper, based in London, left Barclays Wealth & Investment Management earlier this year after 23 years there. During his time at Barclays, he led the entrepreneurs team and served as a board director of Barclays Private Bank. He previously worked at NatWest Markets as head of transaction management.
With a £1.1 billion ($1.4 billion) client book, Cooper specialises in the UK's resident domiciled and resident non-domiciled markets.
Julius Baer has also hired Patricia Newton to support Cooper. She brings 30 years’ experience, having worked in a variety of roles at Barclays. Meanwhile, Christian Rasmussen joins from Lombard Odier as a relationship manager. Cooper, Newton and Rasmussen will report to Annabel Bosman, the bank's head of relationship management, UK.
“We are delighted to welcome bankers of such reputation and calibre who will help us focus on our growth in the UK market, which remains key to our long-term strategy. Julian, Patricia and Christian bring with them a deep understanding of HNW and UHNW families in the UK and their hiring underlines our commitment to our UK clients,” said David Durlacher, chief executive of Julius Baer UK and Ireland.
