Coutts, the private bank, has bolstered its Singapore-based team with the appointment of Watty Buwanawati as executive director, business development for the Indonesia market, with immediate effect, this publication can exclusively report.

Based in Singapore, Buwanawati is responsible for business development in Indonesia and she reports to Jacqueline Chua, managing director, market head for South East Asia. With 21 years of experience in Indonesia financial services, she previously headed the private wealth management business for Deutsche in Indonesia, where she built an onshore private banking franchise.

“She is a key hire for Coutts, at a time when the business is undergoing significant expansion in the region,” Coutts said in a statement.

Buwanawati has also previously worked at ANZ Panin Bank and American Express Bank in Indonesia.

“Over the recent months, Coutts has invested significantly in our platform in Asia, as we expand in this key region. We have broadened our products and services offering, and as we focus on being even more client-centric, we are building out a first-class front office. Watty’s appointment today underpins our ambitions and efforts in building our franchise in South East Asia, and in particular, in the Indonesia market,” said Ranjit Khanna, head of South Asia & Global NRI for Coutts.
