ETF Securities Nabs Coutts Global Equity Strategist

The provider of exchange traded products has added Coutts' global equity strategist to its London-based team.

ETF Securities has hired James Butterfill from Coutts as head of research and investment strategy.

Butterfill joins from Coutts where he was a multi-asset fund manager and global equity strategist, responsible for a discretionary fund of funds comprising £8.8 billion ($13.4 billion) of assets under management. Before this, he worked at HSBC.

In the newly-created role, Butterfill will lead the strategic direction of the global research team, ensuring clients receive up-to-date, expert insight into global macroeconomic and asset-class specific developments. He will also help educate investors on ETPs, commodities, foreign exchange, fixed income and equity markets. Based in London, he will report to ETF Securities’ chief executive, Mark Weeks.

“This is a transformational time for ETF Securities as we continue to broaden our product offering and strengthen our position as a specialist multi-asset ETP player. We pride ourselves on providing clients with unique market insight that helps inform their investment decisions and James will play a pivotal role in enhancing our current research offering and overall strategy,” said Weeks.

ETF Securities' range of exchange traded products covers commodities, FX, equities and fixed income.
