Barings Unveils Asia Dynamic Fund

Baring Asset Management is to launch its Asia Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund on 31 May, with the aim of achieving “equity-like returns” with minimal volatility.

With “no formal limits” on asset class, sectors or regions, Barings said the fund will invest in equities, bonds, currencies, commodities, derivatives, money market instruments, property and/or cash.

Although the fund will, generally, have a higher proportion of investments in both developed and emerging Asian markets, it may “significantly reduce” Asian exposure in certain market conditions, so as to manage volatility and market risk.

Khiem Do, head of Asian multi-asset and a member of Barings’ multi-asset team, will run the fund.

The multi-asset team has run dynamic asset allocation strategies since 2002 and manages over £5.8 billion (about $ 9.1 billion) in dynamic asset allocation products for retail and institutional clients.

“The management of the fund will be underpinned by the multi-asset team’s tried and tested process of identifying the best asset classes from a top-down perspective and taking a flexible approach to asset allocation,” Barings said.
