New York’s BNY Mellon has taken on Jeffrey Mortimer as director of investment strategy for its wealth management unit, Bloomberg reports.

Based in Boston, Mortimer will lead the firm's wealth investment strategy committee while setting asset allocations and making investment recommendations for client portfolios, according to the report.  

He reports to Leo Grohowski, chief investment officer of the wealth unit.

Mortimer is latterly of Boston-based Bainco International Investors and was CIO for the asset management arm of Charles Schwab before that.

The firm could not be reached in time for publication to confirm the development.

In other recent moves, last week BNY Mellon added Tom Hamilton to its team of wealth strategists for its western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and greater Chicago, IL, businesses.

Moreover, earlier this month, Edward Watson was hired as executive vice president and CIO - a newly-created position at the firm. This closely followed the appointment of Patrick Cappatt as senior sales director throughout the Pittsburgh region.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has $176 billion in private client assets.
