American Express Bank has opened an office in Bahrain aimed at providing a point of contact and service for clients across the Middle East via its subsidiary American Express Global Wealth Management, a boutique banking operation offering a customised approach to wealth management. This new office joins those in Dubai and Beirut. Ashraf Issa, head of global wealth management for the Middle East and Turkey, said: “It is the combination of Bahrain’s heritage as a leading Middle East financial centre and its vision for the future that attracted us. Bahrain is an excellent location from which to fulfill our clients’ needs throughout the Gulf, as well as grow our presence and profile.” American Express Global Wealth Management had more than $22 billion in assets under management at the end of 2006.
