Northern Trust Names Regional CTO
The female hire, based in London, will be in charge of leading the firm’s enterprise technology business unit for Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
Northern Trust has named ex-Deutsche Bank MD Alison Pain as its new chief technology officer responsible for leading planning and direction of its enterprise technology unit in EMEA.
Pain will report to chief information officer Tom South, and in London locally to Teresa Parker, president for EMEA. The Chicago-based financial services firm manages around $1 trillion in assets for clients across 22 states and from locations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Last year, it set up an EU bank in Luxembourg and marked 50 years since opening its first office outside North America in London.
Pain spent 12 years leading infrastructure and applications development in EMEA for Deutsche bank and globally for Goldman Sachs. She also gained technology and program management experience at Barclays Private Bank, Land Securities Properties and NatWest group.
South said her “broad array" of experience was well placed. “In the world of ever-changing technology, it’s crucial to be able to effectively navigate this complex landscape and respond to and anticipate our clients’ requirements. We are pleased to welcome Alison to our business."
