Wealth Advisors See Influx Of French HNW Business, But Not Yet A Stampede

The UK’s wealth advisory profession is braced for a continued influx of high net worth French people fleeing higher taxes on income and wealth from the new Hollande regime, but it is an open question as to how dramatic such a move of people and money will be. For many years, central London has hosted a large expat French population, often composed of finance industry professionals and their spouses, as well as French students defying the indifferent British weather to study English. According to whichever studies can be believed, there are up to 400,000 French citizens living in Lon.

Hawkins will assist in the running of Hearthstone’s Property Authorised Investment Fund, alongside lead fund manager and director, David Gibbins. Ignis Asset Management made its head of strategic alliance, Nick Pogmore, redundant, with the positions of up to 20 other employees in its London and Glasgow offices also in jeopardy, following “strategic change” within the firm’s business.

Private Client Law Firm Boosts CIS Capabilities

Move of the month: Unquestionably, the biggest move in September was the resignation of UBS chief executive Oswald Grübel and his replacement on an interim basis of Sergio Ermotti. Berkeley Law, a London-based law firm specialising in wealth advice for high net worth individuals in the UK, has added industry veterans Carly Russell and Jacqui McCoy to its 24-strong team. Russell joins from PwC Legal, where she was the founder and senior member of the private client team. While the global economic crisis may have cut philanthropic donations, the level of giving remains impressive, and recent UK government actions to sharpen incentives for donors will improve the process in the UK, figures in the industry argue. Heed Risks Of New UK Immigration Rules For Wealthy - Law Firm

On the eve of new UK rules designed to encourage wealthy migrants to live in the country, an immigration expert has warned people using the new regulatory regime not to expect an easy route to citizenship. The Conservative/Liberal Democrat government has laid down rules so that foreign investors who bring between £5 million (around $8. 1 million) and £10 million to the country can achieve indefinite leave to remain (ILR) within three and two years, respectively.
