- September 1, 2010 - Schroders Bolsters Research Capabilities
Schroders, the UK-listed investment house, has appointed Mark Brandreth as co-head of research within its quantitative equity products global equities team.
In his new London-based role, Brandreth is responsible for researching new investment ideas and applying these into the investment process, the firm said in a statement. He also will work closely with Sydney-based co-head of research David Philpotts in ensuring communication and coordination of research functions within the team.

Collins Stewart Wealth Management, the London-headquartered investment manager and stockbroker, has hired Sean Millensted to join its intermediary sales team and appointed Christopher Sherwell as a non-executive director of Collins Stewart in the Channel Islands with immediate effect.
In his new London-based role Millensted will be focusing on independent financial advisors and will report to Phil Simmonds, head of UK intermediary sales, the firm said in a statement.

Gartmore, the London-headquartered asset manager, has named Nick Anderson as its new head of research for global equities.
Upon assuming his new role next month, Anderson will work alongside the previous incumbent Simon Melluish, who has become an investment director for the Gartmore equities team on a full time basis. Anderson will report to Neil Rogan, head of global equities at the firm.

Schroders, the private banking and investment firm, said today its profit before tax and exceptional items for the first six months of 2010 surged to £188. 2 million ($298 million) from £36. 3 million a year before, while funds under management rose to £164 billion from £148.

Mark Atherton left the Birmingham branch of Rathbone Brothers, the UK based private wealth and investment management firm.
John Lamb Partnership, the London-based IFA, named Campbell Edgar as head of private clients, a role in which he will oversee an eight-strong team of financial planners. He joins the firm from Andersen Charnley, where up until April of this year he served as consultant director within its City division.
- July 20, 2010 - Schroders Awards £100 Million Mandate To Mayfair Capital
Schroder Property Managers in Jersey has awarded a new £100 million (just over $150 million) mandate to London-based Mayfair Capital to be managed by director Robert Palmer.
This new fund, constituted as an open ended Jersey property unit trust, will be known as the Mayfair Capital Property Unit Trust. It is launched with initial equity commitments of over £100 million from a number of Schroders’ property multi-manager clients and alignment equity.

HSBC Private Bank said yesterday it has appointed Simon Gamse, Jonathan Reed, and Paul Avant as the new associate directors to its high net worth team.
Gamse has more than 28 years of experience in the industry with firms such as Phillips & Drew, Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Prior to joining HSBC, he worked at Barclays Wealth and more recently in the London operations of an overseas bank.
- July 8, 2010 - Rothschild's Private Bank Targets Advisors With New Unit
Rothschild Private Banking has established a business development team to liaise with professional advisors, lawyers, accountants and trustees.
This move comes after the private bank saw an expansion of the private client and charity business over the past two years, Rothschild said in a statement.
The firm has appointed Richard Jennings and Nick Barran, who both joined the firm from Global Asset Management in 2008, to head the initiative.
