- September 2, 2010 - Northern Trust Names New Netherlands Country Head
Chicago-headquartered Northern Trust has named Wim van Ooijen as its new country head for the Netherlands, promoting him from his previous post as head of the bank’s Dutch relationship management team.
In his new role van Ooijen succeeds Eric Pouwels, who has been appointed director of strategic development for EMEA. As country head van Ooijen assumes responsibility for asset servicing business development, sales and client activities across the Netherlands and will also serve as the primary contact for the country’s regulators, Northern Trust said in a statement.

The growing importance of behavioral finance in the aftermath of the financial crisis was dramatically underscored in the recently released and highly influential World Wealth Report by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini.
Noting that billions of dollars in assets are still in motion, the report states that wealth management firms are now “leveraging key tenets of behavioral finance to rebuild investor trust and confidence”.

Chicago-headquartered investment and asset manager Northern Trust has set up a Common Contractual Fund, a platform that will allow investment managers to offer proprietary investment strategies in a cross-border fund vehicle designed to appeal to large institutional investors.
The Northern Trust CCF is an Irish-domiciled vehicle established under the EU’s Undertaking for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities directive - UCITS.
Within the Northern Trust CCF, investment managers can establish sub-funds with distinct portfolios of assets, investment guidelines, fun.

Chicago-headquartered Northern Trust has further enhanced its Hedge Fund Monitor product, adding a compliance module designed to support the demands of UCITS funds of hedge funds - a move which underlines the industry-wide demand for greater transparency.
“Our latest Hedge Fund Monitor enhancement helps fund managers running UCITS funds of hedge funds to monitor their compliance with restrictions on liquidity, concentration risk and exposure to underlying non-UCITS funds,” said Ian Headon, senior product manager for alternative asset servicing at Northern Trust.
