- November 25, 2008 - Two UK Hires For BNY Alternative Investment Services Division
The Bank of New York Mellon has appointed Andrew Dollery as vice president, alternative investment services sales, and Roman Seydoux as vice president, AIS relationship management. Both will be based in
London and report to David Aldrich, managing director, alternative investment and broker-dealer services for the EMEA region.
Mr Dollery and Mr Seydoux join from Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, respectively.

EFG International’s
US business EFG Capital International Corp has hired Amira Matar as senior director of wealth management at the
Los Angeles office of its subsidiary EFG Capital Asset Management, which opened in March this year.
Ms Matar previously worked at Bank of America, City National Bank and Bank of New York Mellon. She is a prominent member of the Los Angeles Lebanese community.
- November 21, 2008 - BNY Mellon To Cut Global Workforce By 4 Per Cent
Bank of New York Mellon, which operates asset management and securities services, is to shrink its worldwide workforce of 43,000 by about 4 per cent, or 1,800 positions.
"It has become clear that we need to take additional steps beyond our merger synergies to reduce expenses, given the current weakness in the global economy. We will take advantage of natural turnover to lessen the impact on existing staff," Robert Kelly, chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.
- November 13, 2008 - BNY Mellon Names New Head Of Private Lending
Bank of New York Mellon Wealth Management has appointed Elizabeth Engel as head of private bank lending.
In this newly created role, Ms Engel will oversee credit administration, underwriting and portfolio risk management. She will be based in the firm's One Wall Street headquarters and will report to Bill Sappington, executive director of national banking.

Ivy Asset Management, a global fund of hedge funds subsidiary of BNY Mellon Asset Management, has appointed Robert Murphy as director of its investment strategies group.
Working with the boutique firm’s global investment team, Mr Murphy’s responsibilities will include elements of investment research, product development and portfolio management processes.
Mr Murphy is to be based at Ivy Asset Management’s New York office, reporting to Sean Cumiskey, managing director and head of the firm’s investment strategies group.

BNY Mellon Asset Management, the global asset management arm of Bank of New York Mellon, has appointed Thomas Connolly as managing director, head of asset management, for the
Middle East region.
Mr Connolly will be responsible for developing the asset management business in the region and will be based in the Bank of New York Mellon Dubai branch office at the Dubai International Financial Centre, which opened in June, working alongside Aki Akiwumi-Thompson.
He will report to Pauline Stuart, executive director of institutional business for Europe, Middle East and
Africa.

- October 31, 2008 - BNY Mellon Appoints Head Of Payment,Trade Services for Asia
The Bank of New York Mellon, the US-listed global financial services company, has appointed Richard Brown as managing director and head of international payment and trade services for Asia.
Mr Brown is to be based in Hong Kong, and will be responsible for managing and building BNY Mellon’s delivery of payment and trade services, including trade outsourcing, USD clearing and cross-border payments to clients in Asia.
Mr Brown joins BNY Mellon from Bank of America, where he managed global treasury services in Asia.
