100WHF Raise Impressive Sum For ASK Charity

12 November 2012

News Analysis

100 Women in Hedge Funds has raised nearly SFr 300,000 ($316,500) for All Special Kids, a non-profit Geneva-based support and enrichment organisation for special needs children and their parents which 100WHF has chosen as the beneficiary for its 2012 fundraising efforts.

Each year, 100WHF’s  board of directors select charitable organisations in the US and Europe within rotating themes of health and education.

The 100WHF 5th annual gala was held at Geneva’s grand Hotel Kempinski  last week, and was attended by 210 professionals from across the European alternatives industry.

“We in Switzerland were delighted to partner with ASK to allow it to extend its programmes, through which all special needs children can feel understood, cared for, and valued for his and her individuality. We hope that the funds raised at the Geneva Gala and other 100WHF fundraising events in Switzerland to be held in December will contribute significantly to helping these children better cope and ultimately succeed in their lives," said Claire Smith, 100WHF’s London board champion for Switzerland.

Since forming in 2001, 100WHF has raised over $25 million globally for various charities in women’s and family health, and mentoring and education, which are main focus areas for the organisation.

ASK, founded in 2003, runs programmes for children with special needs and learning difficulties aimed at enabling them to become independent members of society. Additionally, ASK’s CARE programme offers parents a forum to network with each other and provides specialist referral services, educational assessment and coping skill workshops.

Funds raised by 100WHF will help to expand on programmes across Geneva, Vaud and Zurich.
